I started this blog years ago and always hated the word "blog." It sounded like something that came up out of a toilet after a night of drinking in New York. I started it when I was still in casting and I wrote about shows I worked on (never revealing plot points), but mainly to track and help fundraise for my marathons I did in support of AIDS Project Los Angeles.
I had several friends that "blogged" in Los Angeles and we became great friends. Some of those friends I still talk to and see (my Midnight Movie Mafia buddies) and some, I will quickly cross the street and avoid as if they are wouldbe muggers.
I started this damned "12 of 12" project which I can't seem to kill. I'm thrilled I have people from all over the world do it. I'm even more thrilled my brother introduced me to Linky Tools, so I don't have to enter 100s of links a month. I haven't had time to take my own pics and upload them all year. I've lost interest in it myself, but I mainly kept it, because after I started it, there were other people who did offshoots and claimed THEY originated the idea. But this will be the very last year I host it. Come 2012, it's out for the rest of the world.
I also blogged about cancer. It was theraputic and educational I'm sure. It also rewired my brain, as I learned at my 20th high school reunion this past weekend. Apparently I started writing about people who pissed me off in high school and bullied me. Which, you know... isn't a great thing to learn five minutes before standing in line at the bathroom with someone you wrote about under the influence of chemo.
Then I had some scripts that looked like they were happening, then didn't, then did, then didn't, then did, then didn't. And frankly, it's exhausting getting excited and writing about it, only to go back and be all, "yeah... so that's not happening." It's disappointing, but you don't even have time to get disappointed, because you have to brush it off and get back in the ring.
So I think I stopped blogging because NOTHING WAS HAPPENING.
But actually a lot has happened.
I'm currently trying to lock down investors for my first movie, HELL HOUSE. It's a horror movie I co-wrote with James Rhine (you may know him from BIG BROTHER). I normally HATE writing with other people, but James has really intelligent, great ideas and he also knows how to let me take the wheel and drive the car without trying to give directions.
I just came back from a scout in Macon, where we are looking to film. One problem against Macon is the fact that some of the actors we are talking to may need to stay in LA in order to be able to audition for other projects. If that's the case, we would have to build the entire house in LA.
I'm also going to be reworking the now UNTITLED JOEY STEFANO PROJECT. The original script was centered on Joey, but the new script will actually be more about the "brat pack" of Chi Chi, Sharon, Dior, Mickey, Joey and Gender. It will extend beyond his death. And I hopefully will have an incredible executive producer sign on. He was interested in the story and script, but felt (as I did and several others) that the more interesting story is the group.
I'm also going back out with my pilot (formerly BODY FARM aka LIBERTY) again this week with Hazy Mills. Really excited to get it back out there. Three years ago, a show like this wouldn't possibly fit on television. But today it can.
Also writing a new script that I hope to do with the ubre talented Casper Andreas. Very sexy, scary thriller.
Trying to get THE MARKED (aka THE TELLING) sold. The script is fantastic.
And that's about it. A little busy.
If you know of anyone who invests in low budget horror movies, please email me.
More to come as this story progresses.
